Ideal for hiding irregularities or cracks in a wall, the glass cloth makes it possible to obtain a very flat surface, an essential condition for the good performance of the paint. It can be laid in strips to treat localized irregularities.

Installing glass cloth: preparing the wall

Start by properly preparing the wall, which must be healthy, clean, dry and well planed. Fill the irregularities with plaster, then sand. Dust, wash with a damp sponge, then let the wall dry.

How to lay the glass cloth?

To be sure to lay the first strip straight, draw a vertical line with a plumb bob. Go to cutting the strip, depending on the height of the wall. Provide a 5 cm overhang on each side. Pour the special glass cloth glue into a truck, and impregnate the roll. Glue the wall, then position the first strip along the line. Use a spatula to remove air bubbles, making movements from the center to the edges. Then cut the edges with a cutter. Clean any traces of glue using a slightly damp sponge. Glue the surface corresponding to the laying of the second strip, taking care to position it precisely against the first strip. Paste and cut the edges. Repeat the same gestures with the other strips.

Localized interfacing

To cover a small area, cut a strip of glass cloth. Apply the glue with a brush on the wall. Position the strip and smooth with a soft bristle brush. Cover with a smoothing coating that will hide the canvas.
